Homestead is at the southern end of Miami-Dade, between Everglades National Park and Biscayne National Park, with older neighborhoods and many newer subdivisions.
The historic downtown along Krome Avenue, farm stands and markets, and the Homestead-Miami Speedway are local landmarks. The Florida Keys are a short drive south, which makes weekend trips easy.
Good to know: Many newer neighborhoods have HOA fees and a community development district (CDD), a special district that pays for roads, drainage and amenities and bills owners through the property tax bill. Ask for both amounts before comparing prices.
